The Building Consultancy at Dron & Wright provides high quality professional building surveying advice to many investment and occupier clients who own, or occupy, listed and historic buildings within central and greater London.

In addition to the building pathology and general maintenance advice that we provide we are also often instructed to carry out full refurbishment and external repair and decoration projects, which we manage from inception through to completion, including design and specification as well as tendering of the works.  Some of our recent projects have included specialist stonework repairs, façade cleaning and sympathetic masonry repairs, as detailed in the attached article.

Dron & Wright’s Building Consultancy provides in depth guidance to our clients on the financial and regulatory affect of changes in design or variations in costs once a project is “in contract”.  It is not uncommon to find the need for an unexpected repair when refurbishing historic buildings and very often Georgian properties, which were built very quickly and at low cost with unskilled workers completing elements of the building that are hidden from the occupiers’ eye.  It is a fact that many of our most expensive properties in Central London are very poorly built.

Works to historic buildings often require the surveyor to juggle the clients need to maintain a reasonable level of costs and its needs to comply with the requirements of English Heritage and Planning whilst being mindful of the best method of repair and the requirements of modern tenants.
